The vast deserts of the Western US. I am the rare type that is not out of sorts in the middle of it. I find there to be a strange beauty to the vastness and emptiness. To ride a bike on flat ground for 60 miles is not all that monumental. To ride the same distance in the wasteland of NE California.. takes a new level of dedication. That being said, I know intimately how much land there is and how empty it is. If they find these Rare Earth Minerals in this desert and can prove that they will not impact the groundwater supply of the neighboring towns.. go for it.
